Lost Love
What was once a blessing has now become a curse,
A blossoming love now lies shattered at my feet,
Tears fill my eyes as I vainly try to pick up the pieces,
As the wind scatters whats left of my broken heart.
Even though I can see everything slipping away,
My soul still longs for the bliss I once knew,
Memories roll over me like a crashing wave,
A day at the beach becomes a night spent in her arms,
A whispered I love you stings my heart,
Then drifts away as the tide goes back out to sea.
What I wouldn't give for one more chance,
One more time to look into those soft blue eyes,
But I know that my dream will never come true,
Those eyes are now hard as daggers,
And the loving embrace, a cold shoulder.
I look around and see so many paths before me,
Replacing the one that used to be my destination,
Once again I find myself floating on fates wings,
Scared and unsure of where this journey will lead.
